Adult Skeletal Maxillary Expansion with TAD-Borne Expanders and Spark Aligners
Abstract
Adult skeletal maxillary expansion has become an increasingly important treatment modality for addressing transverse maxillary deficiency in non-growing patients. The use of temporary anchorage device (TAD)–borne expanders enable true skeletal expansion while minimizing undesirable dental side effects. When combined with aligner therapy, clinicians can integrate orthopedic expansion with precise orthodontic tooth movement, improving efficiency, aesthetics, and patient comfort.
